Full Complaint:
XX/XX/XXXX I opened an account with Capital One Platinum, The Deposit was {0.00} as was the Credit Line.
In XXXX I experienced financial Hardship due to Covid-19 Pandemic ( No fault of My Own ) I followed the requirements of the Cares act & I sought relief from Capital One Due to the Pandemic.
I was enrolled into their Covid-19 protection plan to which I would not receive any derogatory marks on my credit, however the account may accrue interest.
Unfortunately Capital One did not follow the Guidelines set fourth by the Cares Act & closed my account without my consent or knowledge and reported late payments and a charge off.
” The Cares Act requires lenders to report to credit bureaus that consumers are current on their loans if consumers have sought relief from their lenders due to the pandemic. The Bureaus statement informs lenders they must comply with the CARES Act. The Bureaus statement also encourages lenders to continue to voluntarily provide payment relief to consumers and to report accurate information to credit bureaus relating to this relief. ” Because of this I have had inaccurate and misleading information published on my credit report & it has damaged my process to purchase a house and effects my very livelihood.
I have reached out to Capital One Numerous times to rectify the situation and have been treated with rudeness and unwillingness to come to any resolution. I feel that Capital One and other predatory Credit Lenders should be held to the highest of compliance and responsibility when it comes to following the Law.
