On XX/XX/XXXX I was scammed into a purchase at a XXXX XXXX which I thought was for a friend. Within hours I discovered the scam and called Capital One indicating that this was an unauthorized purchase and to stop the transaction. Instead they did nothing and referred me to dispute process that was inapplicable in this situation. The terms of this card state ” You will not be responsible for transactions on your account that are unauthorized ”. I have send several letters with documentation to the legal department but they do not respond but rather rely on their dispute procedure which does not address scams. The company denied my claim based on the fact that I benefited from the transaction when Capital One had no mechanism in place to immediately respond I reported this matter to FTC as well.

Hello cfpb : I dispute an account showing on my credit bureaus and Capital One Bank refused to remove the account from my credit files. I have done everything there is under FCRA but no response from them and I was told they sold the account does not belong to me to a attorney and the attorney file sue on me. capital One insist it is my account and refuses to give me any proof the account should be in dispute status and showing documentation the account belong to me a they are claiming it.
