I called midland credit managment to see what amount I owed as they reported to my credit report on XX/XX/XXXX and the debt said it was 1 year and 6 months old. They stated that last time they spoke with me I said I was going to talk with an attorney and they marked on my account the name of a legal team I have never even heard of. They stated they can not speak to me or give me any information as I have an attorney. I told them that is false and I do not and they refused to help me or give me any info. The manager Got on the phone at my request and refused to help me and stated I had to send a letter to remove the lawyer info. I hung up. I called back and spoke with another representative that let me know the manager had marked my account to not receive any calls.I did NOT request that. He also stated there was a department that can remove the lawyer marking, as the management said that couldnt be done. I believe they have been harassing my account as an attempt to get back at me for who knows what. I would just like to know what debt I have so that I can dispute it and start payments. I have now spoken to 5 representatives and I still do not know my balance and still do not have an attorney as they stated

Midland Credit, who informed me they were acting as agent for XXXX XXXX, settled an outstanding debt for less than the amount owed. The settlement was paid in two ACH installments, External Withdrawal XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX/XX/2021 and External Withdrawal XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX/XX/2021 for XXXX each. They have not removed this information or adjusted to show it is settled although XXXX XXXX has updated their records. I received notification from XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, that this collection account balance has increased, although how this can be eludes me. I have tried to file formal disputes on this company for erroneous reporting through the credit bureaus and was only told they met FCRA standards.

Last year I discovered a false account with XXXX now owned by Midland Credit reporting on my file because of identity theft. I contacted the credit bureaus about it and they told me to file a dispute and a identity theft report with the Federal Trade commission. I submitted the dispute a the report but XXXX denied the claim. This is not my debt. I have been cooperative with everything asked of me to dispute but XXXX refuses to stop reporting. Please investigate and help me resolve this issue. There is no way I willing to pay a debt that is not mine.

Full Complaint:
Midland credit has called me 5 times before XXXX XXXX today. Upon picking up she immediately threatened me by saying she was helping me avoid a lawsuit. I simply told them to stop calling and they deny calling as many times as they have. My phone records beg to differ. Each time they call, they call twice!

The second part of threatening a lawsuit is a much bigger deal. That is not allowed and is highly unethical.
