Usaa Bank after being idenity theft and being provided paperwork they not only closed my accounts down illegally they held on to my money for over a month and when it happened they would not give me explanations, they had none. If you are a consumer, RUN! Do not trust them. If you are a federal or state official or work with any government agency you need put them on your hot list.

Date of Complaint: August 2, 2016

Company Official Name: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

State: TX

Product: Credit card

Issue: APR or interest rate

Full Complaint:
I opened a credit card with USAA with a promotional offer for 0 % introductory APR for the first 12 months. I noticed after a few months of having the card that I was being charged interest on the account. I called USAA on XXXX/XXXX/16 and spoke with a representative that confirmed that I should have had the promotional APR but it looks like it never took hold. The representative stated that she would reach out to the back office and then have them contact me back to get the matter resolved. I never received a call back so I called again on XXXX/XXXX/16 and spoke with another representative. The new representative informed me that I did not have a 0 % introductory APR and stated that would escalate the call for further review. I am receiving conflicting information regarding what my promotional offer was. I never received any documentation regarding the promotional offer and this material was also unavailable to me when I looked online. I deem this to be an unfair deceptive act and practice. I recall signing up for the 0 % introductory APR for 12 months and this was confirmed by a USAA representative and now I am being told something different. My credit reporting has been negatively affected for providing incorrect balance information due to the interest that has accumulated on the card. In addition, this has caused a financial burden by having to pay on interest that was not supposed to be accrued during the first 12 months.

Date of Complaint: August 1, 2016

Company Official Name: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

State: MD

Product: Credit card

Issue: Unsolicited issuance of credit card

Full Complaint:
On XXXX XXXX 2016, I cancelled my USAA MasterCard in order to limit my exposure to fraud and credit card risks. USAA opened another USAA XXXX credit card in my name without my consent or knowledge. As such they have now increased my risk to credit card fraud and identity theft. To make the situation worse they did it behind my back in such a manner that I would not be looking for a newly opened credit card. Additionally, when I tried to cancel the unauthorized credit card with USAA, they made the process overly difficult by insisting that they transfer me to a special department to process the cancellation. The reason for the transfer was because it was my only credit card with USAA. In talking with the representative on this matter : they said that if I had a second credit card with USAA that they would be able to cancel it immediately without transferring me to the ” special department. ” As luck would have it, the phone call was mysteriously disconnected during the transfer – how convenient for USAA, I thought. The fact that the Bank can unilaterally create a contract between me and them for the extension of credit bothers me. Moreover, USAA makes it very easy to sign up for the card but cancelling the card does not have the same ease of process.
