In XXXX this year, I received from USAA savings bank, a form XXXX, saying that they had cancelled my debt of {00.00}, and requiring me to report it as income to the IRS on my tax return. I reported it as income, as required, but USAA is still reporting the debt of {00.00}. This is unacceptable and annoying. How can they be reporting a {00.00} balance when they cancelled the full amount of the debt? On XXXX XXXX, XXXX, USAA received my dispute that I sent them through the mail, and today, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, I received from USAA the results of their investigation, which is that they claim they are reporting accurate information to the credit bureaus. When I sent XXXX a copy of the XXXX, they updated my report to having a XXXX balance and paid/closed, which is the correct information. XXXX and XXXX wo n’t do the same thing. I am considering filing a suit against USAA for inaccurate reporting.

Date of Complaint: September 19, 2017

Company Official Name: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

State: MD

Product: Mortgage
Sub-Product: Conventional home mortgage

Issue: Closing on a mortgage

Full Complaint:
I recently received a notice that my mortgage payment would be increasing monthly by approximately {0.00} due to an increase in county taxes. I called USAA for clarification on the significant increase in escrow, and was informed that it was due to the county taxes increasing. She believed the seller may have received tax credits that I ‘m not eligible to receive, thus accounting for the difference. However, I called USAA again and spoke with another representative who confirmed that the taxes calculated at closing only included the semi annual amount, and that amount should have been included twice since XXXX XXXX taxes are semi-annual. She also confirmed that this calculation was a significant error and thus my closing disclosure was not correct. I asked if USAA ‘s loan processor, underwriter, or anyone involved with the bank should have checked these figures prior to closing, or soon thereafter, since ultimately USAA is the loan originator and servicer, and she informed me that it ‘s a title company issue. Due to the drastic increase in the monthly amount that I ‘m now responsible for, I ‘m filing a complaint as I believe this is a violation of Regulation X and TRID. Given the impact this will have on my monthly payments, this appears to be an egregious violation of Regulation X and TRID due to an incorrect escrow calculation, incorrect closing disclosures, and an extended amount of time that has elapsed since the error was made, etc.

Company Official Name: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

State: NY

Product: Checking or savings account
Sub-Product: CD (Certificate of Deposit)

Issue: Managing an account
Sub-Issue: Problem with fees or penalties

Full Complaint:
In XXXX of XXXX I opened a 7 year CD at 3.85 % with USAA. When the XXXX matured this past XXXX XXXX, USAA automatically rolled over the proceeds from that XXXX into a new 7 year CD without my knowledge or consent. The new XXXX has an interest rate of only 1.1 %. In order to get my money out I had to pay a {00.00} early withdrawal penalty from the new XXXX that they opened without my knowledge or consent. I tried several times to get through to the bank in late XXXX and early XXXX. It took me several attempts to get through to the bank by phone, each time being transferred and placed on endless hold. This is a predatory practice aimed at cheating unsuspecting customers.

Date of Complaint: September 18, 2017

Company Official Name: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

State: CA

Product: Checking or savings account
Sub-Product: Checking account

Issue: Managing an account
Sub-Issue: Problem using a debit or ATM card

Full Complaint:
On XX/XX/XXXX, I went to an ATM at a XXXX store and made a withdrawal of {0.00} from my checking account. However, the machine ran out of money and only disbursed {.00}. I tried again and this time the machine said it could not disburse any funds. When I checked my account by phone I saw that I had been debited {0.00}. I called my bank, USAA and filed a complaint.

They said it would take 5-8 business days to refund my money. This is unacceptable. What if that had been my last {0.00} until payday.

When I called a second time on XX/XX/XXXX, I was told the error had still not been assigned to anyone and I would get a provisional refund on the day it was assigned. I was told there are a lot of these errors and they have a whole department dedicated to tracking them down.

In Regards to my USAA SAVINGS BANK # XXXX XXXX card, I notice my credit report states a remark of XXXX for every month starting XXXX XXXX. However, this account has n’t been in dispute. To make it even more peculiar this account almost never even had a balance or any charges on it to dispute. Additionally, in XXXX XXXX USAA began reporting codes XXXX and XXXX, despite this account being in good standing since the date it was opened in XXXX, never having made a late payment or being in anything but positive standing. I was not notified the account was closed until the end of XXXX and never given a detailed statement as to why, despite my repeated requests.

Furthermore, my online account access was restricted preventing me from viewing or seeing my past billing statements which USAA has refused to provide past or even current statements for this and other accounts despite repeated written requests. My initial requests for documentation were close to 120 days ago, well past timeline set forth by the fair credit billing act, truth in lending act and fair credit reporting act, in addition to those timelines set forth in regulation Z
