On XX/XX/XXXX, USAA reversed a temporary deposit credit of {.00} from a poorly handled dispute opened on XX/XX/2018 On XX/XX/XXXX, they submitted another credit reversal for {.00} leaving my account {.00} negative. I have tried earnestly to reach someone with USAA dispute department to no avail. There were multiple representatives handling my personal information and I know this dispute has been handled poorly and unprofessionally. I would like them to return the {.00} they inadvertently took and close this dispute so I can leave USAA entirely. This is the second complaint I have made regarding USAA handling of my accounts and the dispute department.

Product: Checking or savings account
Sub-Product: Checking account
Issue: Opening an account
Sub-Issue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Full Complaint:
On XX/XX/XXXX I received documents and a welcoming letter from USAA about opening a checking account. However, I never did nor authorized such an action. The account number is XXXX and appears to have been opened earlier in XX/XX/XXXX. I spoke with the bank staff including XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, both customer service support who did confirm that this account was opened in my name, had my correct SSN and address but a different email address. They confirmed that a debit card was issued and an initial deposit made into the account, again, with no knowledge on my part. They also confirmed that the debit card was stopped by their fraud department but the account is open but on a hold as of XX/XX/XXXX. I requested several things be done immediately but they could only promise that I would be a call within 3 business days. I requested the following : The account be closed immediately with all funds redirected to their fraud account My name and all other information be removed from this account.
Issue a letter by end of day XX/XX/XXXX confirming that all was accomplished.
I inquired how a bank account could be opened without any credit check or other validation done by the bank. I have my credit reports frozen on all three credit agencies due to possible breech of my personal data. They could not answer that question and I am concerned for all their clients that no validation is done before an account is open.
I believe this to be a scam attempt, opening a checking account with minimum deposit and then issuing fraud checks against insufficent funds. My concern is that this activity and/or closing of the account by the bank will be reported to the agencies and appear on my records, thus damaging my credit worthiness.

Date of Complaint: January 31, 2019
Company Official Name: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
State: FL
Product: Checking or savings account
Sub-Product: CD (Certificate of Deposit)
Issue: Managing an account
Sub-Issue: Problem with fees or penalties
Full Complaint:
in XX/XX/2018 opened 2 $ XXXX cd ‘s for a XXXX yr term at 2.12 %. around XX/XX/2018 USAA began taking money from the CD interest deposit and around XX/XX/XXXX they said it was because of the XXXX not being on file, around XX/XX/XXXX the XXXX issue was resolved the XXXX was found on file since the start of the CD and the deductions should have stopped. The deductions continued and were not even accurate but continued, calls to USAA resulted in assurances that the deductions will cease and return of the deductions will be provided, no return calls ever received deduction continued. In a desperate move the CDs were cancelled and money withdrawn from USAA the penalty was indicated as a portion of the interest paid but the resulting penalty was a deduction of interest and principal form the CDs. Additional calls to USAA seniors and agents resulted in a call from someone who never called again who said the issue is under review. No information on my CDs with USAA is now available on line at USAA under my file and account numbers, no interest XXXX or indication that the CDs ever existed is available.
