On XX/XX/2019, my wife ‘s wallet was stolen from her office. She called USAA and all the other credit companies immediately to report her wallet/card ( s ) stolen. USAA turned off the wrong card. We began relieving text alerts of suspicious charges which we immediately called USAA to report as unauthorized. At this time they assured us the card was turned off and no further charges would be authorized. However, we continued to see charges populate on the turned off card. We called back, they again assured us the card ( s ) were turned off and we would not be responsible for the charges. The charges in dispute were taken off our account and days later they were put back on. We were told we would be responsible for the charges, as the USAA fraud committee determined that since, ‘the thief used the chip on card, it can not be fraudulent and we are responsible for the charges ‘

Full Complaint:
Hello, Today is XX/XX/XXXX. I am filing a complaint against USAA bank for a decision made in a payment dispute. On XX/XX/XXXX, I made a payment to a debtor, XXXX, for the amount of {0.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received my federal tax refund in the amount of {00.00}. The tax return was originally {00.00} ; however, the IRS made a payment to XXXX on XX/XX/13 in the amount of {0.00}. I was not aware that this occurred prior to my payment of {0.00}.

I disputes the charge and a temporary credit of {0.00} was applied to my account by USAA. I received a letter from the IRS a few days after my payment of {0.00} stating the deduction of my tax return to pay a debt.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted a dispute request on my credit report to XXXX. I uploaded the document that I had received from the IRS. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received notice about my dispute results from XX/XX/XXXX ; the debt of {0.00} from XXXX was removed from my credit report, as the debt had been paid.

I received notice from USAA bank on XX/XX/XXXX to submit detailed information regarding the charge by XX/XX/XXXX. If not, then my checking account credit of {0.00} would be reversed on XX/XX/XXXX.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I uploaded the IRS document to USAA. I called USAA around noon to confirm that they had received the document and if it was sufficient information they needed.

USAA verbally told me that my information was sufficient. They also made a note in my account on XX/XX/XXXX with my request for documentation to a verbal approval. I had made multiple calls ( 3 representatives ) about the information that I provided. During these phone calls, I explained to USAA the document and how it relates to deposits and charges to my account.

On XX/XX/XXXX, my account was debited {0.00}. USAA had concluded that I had not provided them with sufficient information. When I explained this information to a senior member in their service department, she said that I could send an email to USAA explaining everything that I have to you in this complaint as an affidavit. USAA does not support email as a medium for me to contact them directly.

Im frustrated with their service. I live paycheck to paycheck living in the XXXX XXXX. USAA has disrupted my livelihood and now I must worry whether their investigation into my dispute against their decision will come before the XXXX of the month.

USAA Credit card first told me I had a {00.00} cash advance and I told them I have NEVER done a cash advance on any of my credit cards. I was then told by them that I made a Balance Transfer for {00.00}. I asked them, who they payed {00.00} to as a balance transfer in my name. After 3 weeks of waiting for them to give me an answer they told me they only keep those records for 12 months and would not tell me who they sent the money to. They could tell me about credit card purchases I made before the so called transfer.
I’ve put my payments on hold until this is resolved. I’ve also sent in a complaint to the 3 credit reporting agencies and am waiting to here back from them.

Issue: Problem when making payments

Full Complaint:
Bank-USAA XX/XX/XXXX, my money ( {0.00} ) was taken from my checking account in an auto draft for payment towards my credit card account. The amount of {0.00} was never credited to my balance, and I have called and gotten hung up on twice, as well as had 3-4 chat conversations with help agents. One of the agents said that they would open an investigation of sorts to see why my payment hasnt applied. They said it would take 2-10 business days. I have waited and have not been contacted at all by USAA neither through phone calls or emails. I have proof that it was taken out on the XXXX, and a letter from USAA themselves saying that they are taking the money a week before the charge went through.

As it stands now, I have another auto draft coming on the XXXX of XXXX and I am wary of losing more money.

On XX/XX/XXXX USAA illegally closed my Visa Credit Card, Checking and Savings Accounts, and Certificate of Deposit based on UNLAWFUL RETALIATION against me exercising my basic consumer rights to dispute wrongful charges. Then falsely claimed their actions are based on my ” UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR OR ACTIVITY ”.

In this case USAA is deliberately violating THE FEDERAL EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ACT by illegally discriminating based on race, and national origin, and because I have in good faith exercised my rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
