Date of Complaint: July 7, 2020
Company Official Name: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
State: FL
Product: Mortgage
Sub-Product: Conventional home mortgage
Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage
Full Complaint:
I applied for a mortgage with USAA. The initial application was on XX/XX/20. I had never received a letter or call regarding the status of my application so I went online to ensure I had applied and resulted in an additional credit inquiry on XX/XX/20. When I called to inquire about my application, which by this time realized my credit was pulled for a second time, I was told by a representative that she will have to deny my application because there is a fraud alert on my credit report and she is unable to verify my identity. Ive been a member with USAA for more than 10 years and have never had any issues until now. I have an extended fraud alert on my credit report due to the XXXX data breach a few years ago where my personal information may have been released. The mortgage lender I applied with after my denial with USAA had no problem asking for a copy of my drivers license and a written and signed letter to confirm I was who I say I am and I was approved with no issues. USAA did not offer this option at all. They are not supposed to deny applicants based upon a fraud alert that is there for their protection and decide to deny them without asking for any other information to verify my identity with. Very dissatisfied with the service I received as a more than 10 year member.

This is not a duplicate complaint. This is a complaint in regards to CFPB complaint XXXX. USAA blatantly lied on this complaint and said I never requested to have my name placed on the do not call list. XXXX never researched my calls because of they did, they wouldve seen that I requested XXXX separate times to be placed on the do not call list. You have done no research in this matter and I have an issue with the dishonesty USAA provided to me and the original CFPB complaint. You need to correct that lie
