American Home Shield Complaint

My Air conditioning unit stopped working and the diagnosis made by the Rep who visited my property from American Home Shield notified that I had to pay the following OUT OF POCKET

as the Evaporator coil needs replacement and the following is not covered

Pipe Modifications = $325.00 Float Switch = $125.00 Freon @ $70/lb = $420.00 Total = $870.00

In a phone call I ask them to give me details regarding the technical nature of the issue and ask them why Piping needs modified and the Float switch as the Float switch is in oerfect working condition.I also ask them for a 2 Ton AC why would they need so much Freon.

The agent refused to answer any of it and gave me an option to either use a Cash out or pay for the cost upfront.I looked in the contract and their is not mention of me being responsible for it.The contract doesn’t explicitly state who covers the piping or the float switch charges.

I also asked them if the cash out option could be run by me.The agent assured that I would get a response in 24 hours and of course this dint happen.I have the chat transcripts. I called them back and my phone was hung up.I call again with an agent 804-7574 ID and she seems to not know any details.This is after my AC went out on 05/09 and in the sweltering heat in Florida I decide to get another opinion from a renowned company.The company told me that the unit needs replacement and as such the total cost to do that is over 3000 USD.AHS is still to return my call or provide any resolution as such.I am in so much discomfort that I have decided to peruse the legal route and have my options explored for 1) The misguidance towards customer service-Not returning calls 2) Contract violation 3) No transparency with what I was being asked to pay for 4) Discomfort and fatigue due to Florida climate and not having AC for almost a week ,although paid premiums on time without a missed payment

What would you like the company to do to fix the problem? (optional)
I would like the company to cover the entire cost of replacing the AC unit and pay for damages and misleading me for over a week
