About a year ago, July 2019, i received notice of 2 accounts opened under my name with Direct TV which I had not opened. I have never been a customer of theirs.
I called and after plenty of transfers and customer service calls, i was able to talk to someone who reassured me that they had classified the account as fraudulent (identity theft) and had closed them – i didn’t have to worry about it anymore.
This year, I noticed that one of the DIrect TV fraudulent accounts had made its way to my credit score bumping it down to 600s from +750 score.
I have made NUMEROUS attempts to reach out to their identity theft departments but i have had no luck speaking with anyone who could help me. The collections agency Receivables Performance, provided me with incorrect / false information as well and threatened me to pay up without providing me any information as to how I could dispute this. I will be filing against them as well.
What would you like the company to do to fix the problem?
Provide compensation for a year’s worth of my time and effort to right something that they did wrong. My affected credit score will now award me higher interest rates in the process of home buying and has taken up more time and phone calls than I ever decided on.
