Santander Consumer USA Bad Customer Support
Purchased car from dealer no longer in business in Columbus, OH in 2014. Dealer never requested proof of income, as I was unemployed at the time. Santander offered me a loan, dealer padded a $3k warranty to my loan and when I questioned the total amount on my bill of sale, they stated that they would not be able to remove the warranty and guarantee that I would receive the loan if they reprocessed my application without it after paying a down payment of $4500 to the dealership, and I needed the car to find a job. Went into default within the first year, and had Santander repossess the car without any notice in March of 2019. After serious communication issues with Santander and many problems locating my car after paying $2400 to Santander to retrieve it, I was able to keep it through now. I contacted Santander last week to discuss payment arrangements, still owing $5400 according to them, I was told that they reported it as a charge off and they emailed an agreement that they “would settle” for $2100 if I paid in full by this Friday, August 14th.
What would you like the company to do to fix the problem?
I would like them to abide by the multi-state settlement reached on May 20, 2020 and forgive the loan and report it paid in full, removing all derogatory marks from my credit, releasing the lien, and signing over the title to me.
