I purchased a car because I was really in need of one my husband and I was approved by Santander Consumer USA had our vehicle repossessed without any communication with me or my husband. The tow company took my car to New Jersey and I live in Delaware. I got the runaround just to pay the tow fees gas and tolls. I then called Santander Consumer USA to see what could be done to make my payments more affordable for us and I was told there was nothing that they could do. I started making my monthly payments of $580 on a 2009 Acura MDX. The amount that we owe seems to not be going down but rather up. Especially at a interest rate of 27%, and my car is only worth $6,800 and we still owe $25,000. Whenever you call to try to make your payments more affordable we’re always told that there is nothing we can do. I asked could they refinance the vehicle at a better interest rate and I was informed that Santander Consumer USA does not refinance their loans. So basically we’re stuck with a vehicle that we’re paying three times over again.
What would you like the company to do to fix the problem?
1.) We would like them to either take the vehicle back free and clear. 2.) write off our vehicle as paid so that we won’t keep paying $580 monthly to not see a dent in what we owe.
3.) or either allow us to only owe what the car is worth.
