What Credit Acceptance Corp did:
I purchased a vehicle from All American Motors in Kingsport, TN. I was given a trade in allowance and the balance of $3500 was financed through Credit Acceptance Corp. I made several payments before I stopped due to the vehicle having too many major problems. I eventually agreed with the owner of the vehicle, Donnie Williams of All American Motors, in Kingsport, TN, to trade the vehicle in with $3000 cash for a 2009 Chevy Impala. I turned the BMW( vehicle ) back in to Donnie Williams with the $3000 paid on my Bank of America Master Card on September 28, 2019. Donnie Williams then allowed Credit Acceptance to repo the vehicle (BMW) from his car lot on Center Street in Kingsport, because he didn’t want to pay Credit Acceptance when they told him that $3500 was still owed on the vehicle. Donnie’s position is that the vehicle belonged to him and that Credit Acceptance never paid him for the vehicle. Credit Acceptance is still holding me liable for the oustanding payment on the vehicle even after I’ve explained several times that I traded the car in for another vehicle, with the original car dealer that I purchased it from and the rep told me that it didnt matter, that I was still responsible as Mr. Williams did not pay them. They are listing this on my credit file which is harming my credit score.
