What Airbnb did:
To whom it may concern:
I booked a house ( Confirmation code ********** for APRIL 30- May 3, 2019.
Due to COVID we could not travel. I informed the host April 2 that we could not come due to this national pandemic. She said she understood and held our $2732.69 for a later date.
We again tried to go in Aug. but the COVID travel warning was still in effect and we were told the house we paid for wasn’t available. We were offered another house but I told the host I needed longer to see what happened with COVID before I could confirm. The host said she wouldn’t hold it for me but if someone else wanted it she’d let me know in case I still wanted it first.
She later messaged me to see if I wanted new dates as there was no change in COVID travel and we still weren’t going to be able to go. I did not respond with dates because all travel was still up in the air. ( so to speak)
The pandemic continued and travel was still not safe through the next several months so I then requested a refund. ( in November)
I was first told I would only get 50% back and then followed up with we’d get nothing because we didn’t “ cancel”.
The circumstances for all of us were not in any contract terms, obviously since this was a first, and it was stated that our funds could be used for a future date, so why would I cancel?
Due to the unprecedented circumstances and long delay in the ability to make any new plans I believe we should get a total refund of $2732.69. This Farver have received no service of goods for our monetary investment. We are a group of young professionals who have been seriously effected financially by this pandemic and cannot afford to lose this large amount of money.
If that full amount is not fairly granted then the next choice would be full credit to still be used for a time travel is deemed safe by the CDC.
I have written messages from all of our conversations that I mentioned above.

What would you like the company to do to fix the problem?
Full credit towards a future rental if not given a full refund.
