What AT&T did:
ATT has screwed us royally financially. We have had them for over 5 years, 5 lines two of them being hotspots for internet. We had the unlimited plus plan grandfathered to us.
End of October my husband and I went in to see about getting a 5G upgrade. We paid off the iPhone 8s, traded them in for iphone13. We made sure our bill would remain the same and was told it would. Today we received our bill and it was not the same, (we already paid off the activation fees month prior). I started a chat within the ATT site and was told they could fix it; no problem! Our bill was to monthly be back to our normal bill. I was happy to hear that, and went about my day. Few hours later, I was checking my email and seen tons of emails about us going over the data cap that my next bill would have a extra 2gb for $10. So essentially the agent changed my grandfathered plan without asking OR even telling us what it was. I got back into the chat where I was told it was being transferred to a supervisor. This supervisor was arrogant and rude, and sent me the customer loyalty number. Called that number just to be told there was nothing I could do. Went to the store and they stated it has to be done within loyalty department, so once again called back. We were told it was sent to back office, and it’ll take 24-48 hours for my plan to be back on if they even agree to do so after investigating. Meanwhile, we are to not use our data for any of our lines- which has racked up to over $100 now. My children are in cyber school and I have paid for my service on time for years. Years of them slyly adding more and more to my bill that I paid not questioning and the one time I do, they change my grandfathered plan and refuse to give it back.
