What Airbnb did:
I was hosting a 25 year old broke dad with his 1 year old son camping outside because Airbnb’s platform adjusted his dates but didn’t refund his money so he has no money to book elsewhere, and the platform allowed someone else to book the remaining dates so I have no room for him either. He is camping outside because of Airbnb and I have been asking for help with this now for multiple days. I they have promised to get back to me five times just to not follow through. Essentially Airbnb has put me into a situation where I have stolen money, that I shouldn’t have been given, from this young father, and Airbnb took a $300 extra cut of money as well from the whole transaction. Airbnb customer service then made my room available for the remaining days that were previously booked. So my guest paid full price for 27 nights, only stayed 12, checked out and then the room was booked again and made unavailable to the guest who paid full price for those rooms. I think there may be a case not just for the cost of the room itself but the distress this has put me and more importantly my guest and his baby in.
