U-Haul Claim for Compensation

U-Haul Claim for Compensation

What U-Haul did:
I rented a U-Haul 9′ Cargo Van for one day on March 23rd from Security Public Storage in Palm Desert CA, and returned it on the same day after hours after purchasing their Repwest insurance which covers damage. On April 26th, I received a letter that I owe $1,455.62 in unspecified damages. When I made an inquiry, I was told that a catalytic converter was missing. My nephew who used to work at U-Haul told me that it would be extremely obvious if I was driving with a missing catalytic converter so I am convinced that what happened is that U-Haul is charging me for a catalytic converter that was stolen after I returned the vehicle.
