Airbnb Claim for Compensation

Airbnb Claim for Compensation

What Airbnb did:
I was told that I could create a new Airbnb account for myself to separate myself from my ex boyfriend whom I had a joint account with, so I did just that, and after my new account was created I was able to redeem a $689 gift card that was sent to me by the adoption agency that I’m going through to place my son that I’m currently pregnant with up for adoption. Almost immediately after I redeemed this gift card I received an email that said my account is blocked and I can’t use Airbnb anymore because I have a criminal records match!!! I had been using Airbnb with no issues prior to this new account and rather large amount of money I added to the new account and I can’t get anywhere with anyone on the phone at Airbnb no one can help me and I need my money back please.

Airbnb Claim for Compensation

What Airbnb did:
On April 2nd of 2022, a charge of $464.55 was attempted to be taken out of my bank account from Airbnb. To note: I haven’t used Airbnb in two years so I was surprised by the charge. I contacted Airbnb and they said they’d make sure my card wasn’t charged again. Then, on September 6th, 2022 there was another charge in the amount of $109.09 was attempted to be taken out of my account from Airbnb. I called Airbnb and let them know about the two attempted charges and they stated they’d escalate the issue. After I gave them all the information I had about the charges, I was sent an email stating that “Using the information you’ve provided, we were unable to locate or identify this transaction in the Airbnb payment processing system” shrugging the issue off as if it isn’t a serious security issue. I have a very low income and if those charges had happened to go through, I wouldn’t have any money for basic necessities. Thankfully my bank knows better and declined those charges but that still doesn’t negate the fact that someone has my information and Airbnb hasn’t done anything about it.

An apology and a way to make this right so whoever is charging my card is brought to justice.

What Airbnb did:
Airbnb created two bookings for one property stay that took place 8/5-8/10/2022.
The first, 50% of the total, was charged in May 2022 from a bank account that was closed in July due to bereavement.
The second booking was created because the first card was declined for the remaining 50%. At that point , Airbnb took 100% of the total from a different bank account, and I have been trying for almost one month to have 50% refunded, $1223.14. Airbnb has taken the 50% amount from the host. Because they created a “chargeback” to the the first bank instead of the second, they claim they cannot correct that mistake.
