PayPal Claim for Compensation
What PayPal did:
On July 17, 2022, I sold an iMac computer to 2 buyers who each paid half the value of the computer ($1,100 each) via PayPal, then each filed a chargeback: one on Aug. 2, 2022, and another on Sept. 13, 2022, resulting in over $2,200 being stolen from my PayPal account.
I disputed both chargebacks (PP-R-OYH-***-***-****
and PP-R-AAX-***-***-****) and filed a police report with the NYPD (#2022-094-004-037), but PayPal removed the funds from my account and the NYPD told me that PayPal would be responsible since they removed the funds and did not offer me any reasoning for why the buyers did this to me. The buyers also did not contact me.
I am seeking my $2,300 returned to my account by PayPal to cover the funds that were stolen from my account, as well as associated fees. PayPal has shown negligence by not offering any insurance or protection for a chargeback scam, have alienated a loyal customer in great standing for 20 years, rendered my PayPal account unusable with a negative balance I cannot afford which could negatively impact my credit overall, and caused me severe financial and emotional damage.
