What Vivint did:
We have security and thermostat services with Vivint. Our thermostat kept turning the fan on. Instead of “auto” it would be on constantly. We received a $700 electric bill and called Vivant to try and resolve our problem. Even after speaking with them in 4° weather to tell them that our thermostat quit again and we were freezing, they offered a new thermostat. They overnighted it. It still took 4 days to receive. Because it took so long and we were so cold we called our local heating cooling company and had a normal thermostat put back in which fixed the problem. We were never told by Vivant that they’d be charging us overnight mailing fees and the cost of another thermostat. We never opened the new thermostat when it came in and set it aside, thinking nothing more of it because we pay a monthly fee for our equipment already. A few weeks later we had money taken from our account to cover the costs of the overnighting the thermostat. I called and through a very long process of explaining what they did, they refunded the money. Then months later we start getting harassed by Vivant’s robo-caller billing services telling us that we now owe $181 and some change for the thermostat because they weren’t sent back. We were never told they needed to be sent back and never received a return label that would imply so. So yet again we called. They sent us a return label and we sent them back that day. They received the equipment January 17. However they’ve called 2-5 times a day with an auto dialer to our cell phone, EVEN AFTER speaking with the representative and telling them to stop calling us. My husband uses his cell for work as well, so him getting multiple calls while at work could get him fired, and other times his phone is off completely and he turns it on to multiple missed calls demanding he call them to resolve our delinquent account (that isn’t delinquent and never once has been). They called again tonight and told me I wasn’t professional and they’d end the call if I didn’t calm down which further infuriated me because it’s literally a company gaslighting their customers! We tried cancelling our services tonight and they said they couldn’t because they’re closed. So we will be canceling tomorrow. The harassment and stress of them taking money (not authorized by us) from our accounts is too much to deal with, especially in this economy.
