How to Lower Your Cox Bill

Paying more than you should for Cox? Learn about options to reduce your bill

We go over how to reduce your bill from Cox and still keep your cable.

Are you having difficulty paying your Cox bill every month? Does it seem like no matter what you do your bill keeps going up without warning? Maybe you have already tried to reach Cox customer service but they aren’t helping you. Thankfully, there are different ways that you can reduce your bill from Cox.

Keep Tabs on Your Cox Bill

If you are having trouble paying your bill, or you just don’t want to pay as much as you are being charged, make sure that you get rid of any unnecessary monthly charges. Cox is not immune to customer complaints, especially billing problems. FairShake has helped clients with Cox billing problems particularly issues like:

  • Cox charging for a high-speed internet plan and never giving that speed
  • Cox overcharging for cancellation issues or missing equipment
  • Claims for compensation where clients were charged more than once for the same monthly bill, but no refund appeared
  • Clients who signed up for a plan based on special pricing and then suddenly found bills for significantly more coming their way

In order to avoid this happening to you, you need to review your monthly bill from Cox and make sure you understand every charge. If there’s something that doesn’t make sense, or something that you shouldn’t be paying for, let them know immediately. Contact Cox first.

Change Your Cox Services

Consider changing your service. There are plenty of situations where customers pay for higher internet speeds than they legitimately use or receive based on where they live. There are also situations where customers take out a bundle because it saves money, but in the end they don’t use the television package. If you realize that you are not using all of the offers included in your subscription, you can change your service to something more affordable.

If you are getting slow internet with Cox, you might consider scaling back your services. After all, there is no point paying for a speed you are never going to get.

Cox offers multiple cable and internet packages, some of which come with bonuses like the history channel, digital music channels, ESPN, and Discovery channel.

Use Promotions

Cox offers a lot of flexibility with their packages, most of which come in the form of basic bundles to which you can customize extra services. As of the time of writing, they offer basic television and Internet packages that include up to 50 Mpbs download speed for internet with television streaming for only $57 per month, for the first 12 months, if you sign up for a 1-year agreement. Some of their more expensive plans include the same internet speed but 140 television channels or 5 times the internet speed with basic television streaming. You have a lot of options to mix-and-match which of those two bundled services are your biggest priority.

That said, reaching out to a customer service representative to let them know that you need to scale back your services might result in you getting a more basic cable and internet package or just alleviating one of those and keeping one service instead of two.

Don’t be afraid to negotiate.

When you are talking to customer service you can always try to negotiate your prices first. Cox regularly has different discounts and promotions that are ongoing especially for new customers. Even if you are an existing customer there is no harm in contacting customer service and asking to speak to the loyalty retention department. They might be able to give you some of these deals specifically for new customers or at the very least offer you bonuses that don’t necessarily come with the basic cable and internet package you are looking into.

If Cox customer service isn’t helping, there are other ways to get them to listen. If you have tried everything to reduce your bill from Cox and you’re still struggling to pay it, it might be time to let us help.

What if Cox owes me money?

You might be owed a refund from Cox, having negotiated to a different service or change your package, but you still haven’t seen that money in your account. We can help.
