Need help getting the DISH Network refund you’re owed? You may have legal options
If you had an issue with Dish Network, you might deserve a refund. But you are probably wondering: can I get a refund from Dish Network, what does their refund policy look like? There are many cases where you might deserve a refund, perhaps because you canceled your service, there’s an issue with a product, where there was a billing problem. We explain what the policies are.
If you are returning a piece of equipment or an accessory, Dish Network makes it very easy:
Once you have returned the equipment and it is received by Dish Network, they will issue you a refund within 7 business days. If you have a specific way that you want the refund to reach you such as a bank account or a particular card you can reach out to customer service to arrange this ahead of time otherwise it will more often than not be returned directly to whatever card you have on file or payment method you have on file.
If you subscribe to a plan and decide to change it or cancel certain features you may or may not qualify for a refund. This can be something like extra channels that are reportedly given to you for free but then renew after 3 months for a cost. You can cancel any part of your plan by calling customer service at 1-800-333-3474. If you were inadvertently sold a product or a plan, Dish Network will cancel the plan and give you a refund for the full purchase price you paid.
If for any reason Dish Network cancels your plan or some part of your plan, they will give you written notice with at least 30 days notification and the reason for cancellation. If Dish Network cancels any part of your service or your entire contract you will be refunded or credited the pro rata amount. This varies by state and you can find information based on where you live here: https://www.dish.com/downloads/legal/protection-plan.pdf.
If you decide you no longer want to use your DISH service, you have to contact DISH customer service to cancel your services and if you are under a long-term contract, even though you might qualify for a refund for certain equipment, or security deposits, you will be subject to early termination fees which averaged $20 for every month that remains in your contract.
If there is an overcharge on your account or some other issue not covered here, Dish Network requires that you have your name, your mailing address, and your phone number associated with the account. You have to call Dish customer service at 1-800-333-3474, but only the account holder can make a request for a refund which is why it’s important that you have the account holder present (if you are not the account holder) to give permission, and that you have the name, address, and phone number.
In all of these cases you have to log into your account directly in order to initiate the request for refund. Customer service will have to work with you to determine if you are eligible and it can take up to 60 days for the refund to be received.
There are some cases where Dish Network might simply refuse to issue you a refund that you deserve. Maybe they flat-out deny your request or they just ignore it. In any case if they fail to issue a refund for something that falls under your contract, you can use consumer arbitration. With our help, you can reach out to Dish Network using other legal means to get the refund you deserve.
Consumer arbitration is a legal option that is laid out in your contract with Dish Network and with it you can have a third party independently review the situation and if you deserve the refund in accordance with your Dish Network contract, they can force the company to give it to you. We can help.
