Many consumers complain that they are charged more for their service than what they agreed to. When they try to resolve these billing issues over the phone, they are not fixed when they review their bill next month. Other common grievances occur when customers try to cancel their service and are charged cancellation fees that they shouldn’t be. In other situations, customers are charged for equipment that they either returned or they are told that they have to mail the equipment back, but aren’t don’t receive the packaging to do so.

Many are frustrated when they call technical support for help and the technician doesn’t arrive or they are unable to fix the problem. Customers often report that they don’t receive follow-up phone calls or have problems scheduled a technician to come back out.
In other situations, customers claim that internet speeds are slower than what they are paying for. In 2015, Frontier settled a lawsuit filed by West Virginia’s Attorney General alleging that consumers received slower internet speed than what they were promised and charged for.
As with most telecom companies, Frontier offers special promotions for new or existing customers. Many complaints indicate that the special promotions are either not honored or the cost is higher than what was advertised. In other cases, customers are billed for service that they didn’t sign up for or are unaware of extra charges, such as installation, that they have to pay. A common complaint involves month-to-month contracts where Frontier checks the customer’s credit without their knowledge.
