How-To Reduce your Bill from Google Fiber

If you are struggling to pay for your Google Fiber bill, we may be able to help you file a claim and recover cash.

If you are having a hard time paying your Google Fiber internet bill every month, you may be able to reduce your monthly payments. In addition to taking steps to reduce your bill, it’s important you understand Google Fiber’s billing cycle and what you should expect on your bill each month. Google also gives you the option to change you service plan online.

Review your monthly bill

Google Fiber charges standard rates for internet, phone, and television service.  Even though your rates typically won’t change, it’s a good idea to review your bill every month.  This can help you to catch billing errors or duplicate payments. Always verify that you are being charged the amount that you agreed to.  If you have subscribed for Google Fiber’s phone service, check to see if you were billed for anything over your monthly charge.

If you have had service interruptions for an extended period, you might consider calling Google Fiber’s customer service to see if you can get a credit on your bill.  This way, you aren’t paying for service that you were not able to use.

If you see errors in your Google Fiber bill, be sure to speak to a customer service representative to rectify them.

Choose the services that you need

Google Fiber prices will vary based on location.  Standard prices for Google Fiber internet service with a speed of up to 1,000 Mbps will range from $60 to $70 per month, depending upon where you live.  Depending upon the package you select, you can add online television with a variety of channels for approximately $105 each month. You can also add $10 for phone service.  If you have opted for online television and are having a hard time making ends meet, you may want to consider dropping this service and just use the internet to stream your favorite shows.

In certain areas, Google Fiber offers free internet of 5 Mbps.  If you just need basic internet service and aren’t concerned about speed, you might consider switching to this service and save yourself a little money.  You may be subject to a $300 installation fee that can be paid back in $25 installments over the next year. Find out if you qualify for free internet by calling customer service.

Prepay your internet service

In some locations, Google Fiber offers the option to pay $60 per month or $550 for the year.  If you are happy with the level of service that Google Fiber provides and have the financial means, you might consider paying for an entire year at one time.  This will save you $170 for the year.

Unlike many of its competitors, Google Fiber does not offer discounts or promotional pricing to seniors, students, or military personnel.  However, if you are strapped for cash, check to see if you qualify for the 5 Mbps speed.
