Net 10 Wireless Phone Bill: What You Should be Paying

Are you pay too much for your Net 10 phone service? We can help.

Net10 offers a range of plans. The average cell phone cost per month can vary based on whether you are using a smartphone plan, a basic phone plan, or purchasing a hotspot plan. The starting phone bill cost per month for a smartphone plan or basic phone pay-as-you-go-plan on a monthly basis is $20.

Network quality

Understanding the network quality can get a little tricky if you use Net10 Wireless. The reason for this is that Net10 Wireless is actually a subsidiary of TracFone Wireless. However, TracFone was recently acquired by Verizon Wireless and therefore the quality of network you get when making phone calls or listening to music is contingent upon whatever coverage Verizon Wireless offers in your area. This can be a bit upsetting if you opted for the no contract viability of Net10 in an area where Verizon Wireless doesn’t have good network quality.

Below is a map of their current coverage:

Will 5G cost more?

The 5G Plan cost is not something you have to worry with Net10 because their service plans go through Verizon as mentioned. Assuming you live in an area with access to the 5G networks Verizon operates, you can technically use the 5G service without any additional cost until such time as you reach your data cap and then your speeds get throttled significantly, down to 2G.

They have an auto refill service which will automatically renew your plan at any time if you have a monthly, no contract plan. This Auto refill allows you to cancel your prepaid plan at any time with no additional fees or penalties.

Much like many cell phone providers, Net10 Wireless throttles service once you reach the data cap associated with your plan. However, they do offer add-on plans. You can purchase an additional 500 megabytes of data for $5 or 100 megabytes of data for $10. With each of these additional plans you get no service delays and any unused data will carry over as long as you keep your contract the following month. There are no limits to how many of these you can purchase each month, so customers can easily add to the average cell phone cost per month with these additional data purchases.

For those who travel, they have the $10 Global calling card which lets you pay as you go and gives you the option of rollover data

Net10 Cell Phone Plans

Unlimited plans

Net10 offers different service plans based on your needs. The smartphone plans, for example, all include unlimited talk and text messaging, but they vary in terms of the data.

There are six different monthly plans for smartphones all of which lasts for 30 days. The unlimited plan cost is based on the data.

$20 per month plan/per line

2GB data; first 2GB at high speed, then drops to 2G

Unlimited talk and text

$10 of international calling credit

No hotspot data

$35 per month/per line

5GB data; first 5GB at high speed, then drops to 2G

$10 of international calling credit

No hotspot data

$40 per month/per line

10GB data; first 10GB at high speed, then drops to 2G

Unlimited talk and text

$20 of international calling credit

No hotspot data

$50 per month/per line

5 GB hotspot data

$60 per month/per line

40GB data; first 40GB at high speed, then drops to 2G

$65 per month/per line

10 GB hotspot data

One of the issues here is that you might have a data cap but once you reach that data cap you still get charged extra fees we’re going over, and you are hit with throttling.

Family and Sharing plans

The company gives you savings when you add additional phone lines. For every phone line in the same account, if you use Auto refill on the first line, you get $10 off each additional line which drops the line access fee.

The unlimited family plan cost is based on the data, and number of lines, as listed in the table above.

Some customers take issue with this Auto refill because it is tantamount to auto pay for a company that doesn’t have long-term contracts on your phone plan.

Prepaid plans

Net10 offers prepaid plans for a basic phone, too.

$20 per month plan/per line

200 minutes for talk, text, and web

Good for 30 days, pay as you go, with carry over

$30 per month/per line

300 minutes for talk, text, and web

Good for 60 days, pay as you go, with carry over

$45 per month/per line

600 minutes for talk, text, and web

Good for 60 days, pay as you go, with carry over

$60 per month/per line

900 minutes for talk, text, and web

Good for 90 days, pay as you go, with carry over

$100 per month/per line

1500 minutes for talk, text, and web

Good for 180 days, pay as you go, with carry over

Other plans

Net10 also offers hotspot plans. You can purchase one GB of mobile Hotspot data valid for 30 days for $10. You can purchase 2 gigabytes for $20, 2.5 GB for $30, both of which lasts for 30 days. You can purchase 10 gigabytes for $50 and this is valid for 60 days.

If you need extra data to add to your monthly plan, you can also get 500 megabytes for just $5 which is data only and will carry over with active service if you don’t use it, or 1 GB for $10 data-only.

How Net10’s Unlimited Plan Compares

Net10 functions very similarly to other companies like Altice Mobile or AT&T by charging less for monthly plans and then significantly throttling speeds once the data cap has been reached. Net10 drops you from whatever you have access to, 4 or 5G, to 2G for the rest of the month once you reach your data limit.

However, in terms of price, the smart phone data plans are little bit less expensive than big companies especially when you consider that they include international calling credit.

Much like the big companies, Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile, you get discounts when you add additional phone lines but you still have the limit of 4 phone lines per plan.
