About $11 million in undistributed funds from a class action against Dish Network LLC will be donated to a dozen nonprofit organizations and institutions, a federal court in North Carolina decided.
A jury found Dish Network responsible for phone solicitations to more than 18,000 residential numbers on the Do Not Call Registry, violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina decided the organizations would use leftover funds to benefit the class with enforcement, services, and consumer education, according to an opinion.
