From Telecompetitor:
T-Mobile for Business customers now have access to Secure Wi-Fi, a virtual private network (VPN)-based mobile app that the carrier says goes beyond basic security with capabilities aimed at improving end users’ experience.
The “set and forget” app is part of the carrier’s Coverage Beyond. T-Mobile says that the app is designed to let business people use public Wi-Fi without worry anywhere in the world. It is free with Wi-Fi Business Advanced, Ultimate and Ultimate+ for iPhone plans.
The app is based on a SmartVPN that works with other VPNs, local-area networks (LANs) and secure business apps, according to a press release about Secure Wi-Fi. The company says that the Secure Wi-Fi Mobile app is aware of when it is not needed, such as when the user is on a company VPN or an already secured app, such as one from a bank.
The app, which T-Mobile says was designed by Mobolize, is designed to use the T-Mobile network to minimize disruptions and delays caused by outside events, such as when the public Wi-Fi is not operating optimally. It also “improves transitions between the Wi-Fi and the T-Mobile network,” the company says.
