How to understand your internet bill from Comcast

Understanding your bill can be difficult and tedious. The last thing we want you to do is spend countless hours laboring over your bill. Don’t fret! We are here to guide you on how to make sense of your internet bill from Comcast and the resources available if your billing statement remains unclear.

Step-by-step guide to understanding your internet bill

Accessing your bill

There are three ways you can view your Comcast invoice. This can be done online, by mail or through the app. Be sure to have your username and password ready to gain access if you are viewing the invoice online.

There are a couple of things you should keep in mind when reviewing your bill. If it is your first bill, it will be higher than your next bill for a number of reasons.

  1. Comcast charges for the first full month of service in advance. (Therefore the second month’s service is normally included.)
  2. If you begin service during the middle of the month, then there is a prorated charge for the time when your service was active. Remember that you should be charged only for when the plan or feature was active on this account.
  3. There are also one-time charges included in this statement. Some examples include equipment purchases, equipment shipping and handling, activation and installation fees.

What’s included in your bill

You should find your name and account number on this invoice. Typically your invoice will contain the following:

  1. Bill Date: This is the date your bill was printed. Any service or changes made after that date will be reflected in your next billing statement.
  2. Service Period: This is the dates you’ve been charged for.
  3. Regular Monthly Charges: This is the amount for your internet services. This is different from the one-time charges posted on your account.
  4. New Charges: This is the total amount charged to the entire account during the payment period. If you have any charges that are past due, they will be reflected in the total amount due.
  5. Itemized details: This can be found on the third page of your bill and will list all of the charges including taxes and fees. This section will also list what was different from the previous statement.

If your bill is still unclear, there are other options

Contact Comcast Using Their Chat Tool.

The chat tool may speed up the process of getting support rather than waiting on long phone hold times.

Tweet Comcast @Comcastcares

Unfortunately, sometimes a public complaint brings quicker results.

Contact Comcast’s Customer Support Number at 1-800-934-6489

If you choose to call Comcast’s customer support, make sure to check out our guide on how to get a real person on the phone.

Review past bill amounts

If there are any discrepancies between your current month’s bill amount, it may be helpful to review your payment history. Simply sign in as the Primary Account Holder.

Review your data usage

Comcast also offers a tool that allows you to view your data usage. Simply sign into the primary account. The meter can be found on the Devices page under the Data Usage Overview.

Ok, none of that worked, now what?
