ADT Claim for Compensation

What ADT did:
We purchased the whole camera and alarm system for all doors and windows and medicine cabinets in our house and doorbell camera and living room camera and outside camera and had our outside shop wired up as well. We asked if we moved would we have to purchase new equipment and they told us no . When we moved we were informed we would have to leave our set up there and the new home owners could transfer into their name. And then when we called to get it hooked up at the new house they told us we would have to re purchase everything. How is that fair to us? Having to buy the same equipment again and the new home owners get free equipment and just have to pay the monthly service
