Your Transworld Systems Questions Answered

Have an issue with Transworld Systems? Need help?

Are you being harassed by a debt collector? Is someone from Transworld contacting you every day, or multiple times per day by phone, mail, email, or Facebook? Are they threatening to sue? We explain all about Transworld and whether they are legitimate, and what to do if they contact you.

What is Transworld?

Transworld is a debt collector. They have acquired a handful of other Financial Services like AllTran Financial Services and are a very popular agency across the United States working with small companies, large companies, individuals, and organizations with debt recovery.

Should I pay Transworld?

Yes, if you owe them money you should settle with Transworld. They are a legitimate company and you should legitimately work with them. However, even legitimate companies have been known to sometimes act unfairly and violate things like the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). So if you have been harassed or treated unfairly, consider filing a complaint or working with an attorney.

Is Transworld a legitimate company?

Yes, Transworld is a legitimate company.

Is Transworld a junk debt buyer?

Transworld is not a junk debt buyer, they are a legitimate debt collection agency.

Can I ignore Transworld?

Don’t assume you can ignore Transworld. If you continue to ignore them, Transworld can take legal action against you to get the money back. That said, even though they are a legitimate company, Transworld sometimes makes mistakes or violates the most recent FDCPA regulations about when and how they contact you. If this happens, you can share your complaints with outside attorneys, or file complaints with the government. You can get legal help to sue the collection agency if that is insufficient.

Who does Transworld collect for?

Transworld collects for B2B commercial collections, Fortune 100 corporations, health care providers, educational institutions, state and federal governments, small and medium-sized businesses, and financial organizations.

Why is Transworld calling me when I have no debt?

If Transworld is calling you and you don’t think you have debt, you need to send them a request for validation. You have 30 days from the first point of contact to ask the company for authenticity, verifying the legitimacy of the debt. You might not realize you actually have debt, or it might be a mistake. Something that happens quite often is debt collectors getting an account from a creditor that has information like a cell phone number. But that cell phone number might be out of date and no longer associated with the original owner of the account, so you end up getting all the phone calls. Sending that request for validation helps the companies recognize when this mistake has been made. If Transworld can’t prove the legitimacy of the debt and provide you with evidence that it’s yours, they have to stop trying to collect. If they don’t send you the appropriate response to your request for validation, you can send them a communication called insufficient validation.

What should I do if Transworld is calling about debt I’ve already paid?

In some situations you know the debt was yours at some point, but isn’t anymore. If you think you already paid the debt that Transworld is calling about, check your records and simultaneously ask Transworld to validate the debt by sending them a request for a validation letter. You have to do this within 30 days of your first point of contact. They might be operating with incorrect information from your credit report. So, take the time to double-check your credit report as well. If you see that it has debt you have already paid, present your evidence to the credit reporting agencies and ask them to fix it.

What laws apply to Transworld Systems?

As a debt collector, some of the laws that Transworld Systems must follow include the FCRA, the FDCPA, and the TCPA.

That alphabet soup stands for the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which gives you rights to help ensure your credit report remains accurate; the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which protects you from being abused and deceived by debt collectors; and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which limits robocalls and other telephone spam.

If you think any of these consumer protection laws may apply to your situation, tell us about it.

What should I do if Transworld Systems is calling about debt beyond the statute of limitations (SOL)?

If you believe the debt Transworld is calling about has expired, you want to do the same thing: check your records and simultaneously, send Transworld a request for a validation letter. There is a different statute of limitations for each type of debt, so you want to check your credit report to make sure the debt actually is expired. If you can prove it is expired but it’s still listed on your credit score, contact the credit reporting agencies to have it updated. Sometimes companies like Transworld think they are collecting on non-expired debt when they aren’t.

How do I settle for less with Transworld?

The employees who call you are usually minimum-wage employees and they get a bonus if they can settle your account. This means they’re financially motivated to help you reach a settlement. If you are experiencing financial hardship, you can also use this information to help you get a settlement that is more favorable.

How do I get rid of Transworld?

If you owe a legitimate debt, the best way to get rid of Transworld is to settle with them. You or an attorney can negotiate with Transworld for a reduced settlement, a fraction of the total amount you owe, especially if you are currently experiencing financial hardship.Alternatively, if you don’t think you owe any money, you can ask Transworld for a validation letter. If Transworld can’t legitimately prove the debt is yours, you can send the company a letter of insufficient validation.

Can Transworld sue me?

If your debt is current and legitimate, yes they can sue you. However, debt collectors like Transworld are prohibited from suing or threatening to sue consumers for payment on a debt that is past the statute of limitations, although they can still ask for payment until you send a cease communications notice.

What is Transworld on my credit report?

If you have recently checked your credit score and saw something labeled “Transworld” on your credit report, that means one of your credit accounts was sent to collections, labeled as delinquent. If you settle with Transworld, the delinquent account is updated to reflect the settlement. It will show up as “settled” with a zero balance. It stays that way for seven years unless you or an attorney can negotiate for a “tradeline deletion”.

Do I need a lawyer to deal with Transworld?

You do not require an attorney to deal with a debt collector. Legally you are well within your rights to negotiate yourself. However, many people find it less stressful to hire an attorney. Attorneys understand the law so they know what your rights are and what to do if they have been violated. Attorneys also have full-time staff dedicated to filing the right paperwork and submitting the proper requests or sending the appropriate letters. Attorneys also, primarily, field all communication so you don’t have to talk with debt collectors directly and deal with the pressure tactics they use.

How do I validate debt from Transworld?

The FDCPA uses the word “verify,” but some other organizations use the word “validate.” No matter which word is used, it can mean two things. First, You “validate” a debt by sending a letter to Transworld officially asking them for information that would confirm the validity of the debt. You or an attorney must do this within 30 days from the first time they contact you.Second, Transworld then “validates” the debt on their end by providing you with this information. Collection attempts have to stop once they receive your letter until such time as they give you a response which should take 30 days. If they don’t follow the law or they are unable to verify it, they have to stop bothering you.

How long does it take to settle with Transworld?

This depends on your personal situation. If you are trying to prove that there was a mistake and the debt in question does not belong to you, it might take longer for you to reach a conclusion. If you are trying to negotiate for a settlement but you are proving financial hardship, this can also extend the length of time required.

How much should I offer Transworld to settle a debt?

You should offer Transworld Systems whatever you can legitimately afford. Debt collectors try to collect between 40% and 80% of the total amount you owe. However, if you can’t afford that, offer a settlement that’s based on your current financial situation.

Can a creditor sue you? Can they take all the money in your bank account?

Yes, creditors can sue you. However, they can’t just waltz in and drain all the money from your bank account. What they do is go to the court and say that you have ignored their attempts to collect on a debt and then get a court order to liquidate assets in order to repay the money you owe.

Can I ignore a collection agency like Transworld?

You can ignore Transworld, but you shouldn’t. You are much better off responding sooner rather than later especially if you think there is a problem with the account. You have a short window to validate the account. Doing so can help you figure out what steps you need to take next and it also protects you from additional legal action like lawsuits.

How did Transworld get my number?

Debt collectors get your number from the account information when they get an account. If you take out a credit card or an auto loan, or any other type of credit, you have to provide your contact information which includes things like your social security number, mailing address, and phone number. All of this stays with your account and if that account is delinquent and sent to collections, the information goes with it.

Can I use a credit card to pay for Transworld?

Transworld Systems offers a client self-service website. They actually make it a little more complicated to pay online compared to other debt collectors. You are allowed to pay online but you need a web registration code to use your credit card. The web registration code gets sent to you in the letters from Transworld Systems and if you don’t have it, you won’t be able to pay at all using any method.

Will paying off collections improve credit?

Any accounts that are sent to collections serve as a negative mark on your credit score, but paying it off will eventually help improve your credit. If you have an account that is sent to collections, it will remain delinquent for 7 years on your credit score after you reach a settlement unless you negotiate for a tradeline deletion. This is where Transworld has the entire account removed from your credit report as soon as you finish paying your settlement.

Does debt go away after seven years?

Almost all debt has a statute of limitations. That statute of limitations is an expiration date. It varies based on the type of debt and the state. However, qualifying debt will expire once it reaches its statute of limitations. 7 years is an average figure but it might be more or less depending on where you live and what type of account it is.

If I file for bankruptcy, does my debt go away?

No, if you file for bankruptcy your debt does not automatically go away. Instead, you are still responsible for trying to find a way to repay what you owe. The difference is the courts intervene and prevent your creditors and debt collectors from harassing you or suing you. You are still responsible for finding ways to pay whatever you can. Only after you have reached a settlement with all of your creditors and followed through with things like repayment or liquidating your assets will any remaining debt go away.

How do I get debt removed from my credit score?

If you have an account that was sent to collections, even after you reach a settlement with Transworld, the account stays on your credit score for 7 years unless you negotiate a tradeline deletion. A trade line deletion is where Transworld contacts the credit reporting agencies on your behalf to have the item removed. In all other situations, where the debt had expired or is inaccurate or was paid off before it went to collections, you can contact the credit reporting agencies and have them fix the mistake.
