If you had an issue with Verizon Wireless, your account, cancellation, an accidental charge, or anything in between you might deserve a refund. But what does the Verizon Wireless refund policy entail? Now you want to know: can I get a refund from Verizon Wireless. We explain how.
If you purchase a device or accessory from Verizon Wireless, you can return it or exchange it within 14 days of your purchase but you will have to pay an extra $35 fee. If you have purchased an item and you want to discontinue your service with Verizon, you have to contact customer service to cancel your service and then return your devices in undamaged condition with your original purchasing receipt, in the original shipping container. Verizon Wireless will only give refunds to those people whose names appear on the original receipt. If you purchased merchandise directly from a Verizon store do you have to return it to that original store.
Any Verizon Wireless prepaid data plan will not be refunded. If you choose to cancel your account your current data plan and any existing balance you have will simply be lost.
Verizon Wireless often bills in advance for certain services so, if you disconnect your service you might have a credit balance on your final bill. That credit balance will be automatically refunded to you if you don’t owe any money for any other Verizon account, but this can take up to 60 days.
If you have a credit balance on your account because of a duplicate payment or an adjustment that was made by the company, they will refund that amount to you, again, so long as you don’t owe any money for any other Verizon account. For this you have to contact Verizon customer service so that they can process the refund.
If you paid a security deposit for a specific device or order, once you’ve had your service for 12 months, Verizon will review your payment history to determine if you are eligible for a refund. If you have paid your bill on time, in full, for the last 10 out of 12 months, they will refund your deposit.
That refund will be applied to your debit card or credit card on file, and if there is no payment card on file the refund will be applied to your next Verizon bill.
If you live in Virginia, your deposit will be held for 6 months and in order to qualify for a deposit refund, Verizon will determine whether you have paid your bill on time and in full for the last five out of six months.
If you don’t recall receiving your refund, bear in mind that it can take up to 60 days for Verizon Wireless to refund the credit balance. You can continue to check the status online in My Verizon.
If you disconnected the service, and subsequently received your bill but it lacked the credit/refund you were expecting, Verizon Wireless notes that if your disconnection order lands within 5 days before or after your billing date, the next bill you receive may not reflect your prorated refund. Verizon makes it easy to check the status of your refund. Just sign in to My Verizon and, hover over Billing > select View Bill > Options > Check Refund Status.
If you are enrolled in Auto Pay, the refund you receive from Verizon Wireless will be sent back to your card or bank account on file.
In some cases Verizon Wireless might not get back to you in a timely fashion or they simply won’t resolve the issue. If they fail to refund you for something you deserve, something covered under your contract, you can use consumer arbitration.
