How to understand your bill from Spectrum

Understanding your bill can be difficult and tedious. The last thing we want you to do is spend countless hours laboring over your bill. Don’t fret! We are here to guide you on how to make sense of your bill from Spectrum and the resources available if your billing statement remains unclear.

Step-by-step guide to understanding your bill

Accessing your bill

There are three ways you can view your Spectrum invoice. This can be done online, by mail or through the app. Be sure to have your username and password ready to gain access if you are viewing the invoice online. There are a couple of things you should keep in mind when reviewing your bill.

Your statement cycle starts on the first day of your service. It will include charges for services, equipment leases, installation charges and taxes. Statements after that are billed one month in advance.

What’s included in your bill

The first page of the bill will list the itemized details for the account. Included in this page is your account number and PIN which you should retain for your records. You will also find important messages and reminders on this page.

Typically, the invoice will contain the following:

  1. Account Info: This includes your statement date, account number, and security code.
  2. Summary: This is your charges, payments, and credits for this billing cycle.
  3. Current Charges and Due Date: This section details your payments received and due date.
  4. Spectrum News: Important account information, news and promotions. You’ll also find special events, savings opportunities, news and promotions.
  5. Charge Details: These are itemized details during the billing period.
  6. Adjustments: An explanation of the credits and fees applied to the account.
  7. Fees and Charges: These are fees imposed by the local, state and federal government.
  8. Other Charges: This includes one-time charges, such as installation fees, Pay-Per-View purchases, On Demand Rentals, change of service charges, and applicable trouble call charges. For TV customers, a Broadcast TV surcharge is also assessed to Charter Communications by the local broadcasters or local network affiliated TV stations.
  9. If you live in VT, NY, NJ, MA or Kauai, you’ll see partial or prorated charges when you make changes to your account or service after your first bill. Those charges can be in the form of a credit or debit.
