How to Negotiate Your Verizon Bill

Struggling to Pay your Monthly Verizon Bill?  Paying more than what you should?
We break down your options to reduce your bill.

Do you have a hard time paying your Verizon bill every month?  Maybe you are being charged more than what they promised? Or is your bill more than what you can afford?  Perhaps you’ve tried contacting Verizon’s customer service for help in reducing your monthly bill, but haven’t had much luck.

So now you want to know: How to reduce your bill from Verizon.

Some of the most common ways to reduce your bill are covered below:

  • What is on my monthly bill?
  • Am I paying for what I need?
  • Can I take advantage of discounts?

Read on to find out what you can do to reduce your monthly Verizon bill:

What is on my monthly bill?

One of the most important things you can do is review your bill every month.  When you review your bill, make sure that:

  • You are being billed for what you agreed to.  Many times customers sign up for special promotions only to find that they are being billed more than they should be.  If you see a discrepancy in your bill, be sure to contact customer service immediately.
  • You aren’t being charged for something you didn’t use or agree to.  Verizon was recently involved in a lawsuit whereby fraudulent charges were knowingly billed to a customer’s account.  The case has since been sent to arbitration. In 2014, Verizon settled a case whereby FamilyShare Plan holders were charged higher rates than agreed or charged for calls that should have been free.  Reviewing your bill every month can help you catch billing errors quickly.
  • If you were promised a gift card, points, or rebates, keep an eye out for them on your bill.

Many times, promotional rates are short-term.  If you see your rates going up, call customer service to see if you are eligible for a new promotion or a better plan.

Am I Paying for What I Need?

Cell phone providers often tack on services that you don’t need or use.  You may be able to have these removed from your plan or get a better price for the services that you use.

A few things to look for include data usage and insurance.   Keep an eye on your data usage every month. If you use limited data, you may be able to downgrade to a lower plan and get a better rate.  Consider the need for insurance. If you are required to pay a deductible when you change out your phone, it may not be worth paying the monthly insurance charge.

Can I Take Advantage of any Discounts?

You may be eligible for a variety of discounts offered by Verizon.  These discounts include:
