Need help getting the Metro refund you’re owed? You may have legal options
Metro by T-Mobile offers you a lot. Smartphones, data plans, family plans and more are all there for you to browse and choose from, but it can all change in the blink of an eye. You might need to swap to a new plan, or maybe you want to buy a brand new smartphone and need to trade in your old one for some money.
When you need a refund from Metro by T-Mobile, it might seem a bit confusing about what their refund policies look like for you. However, receiving your money back is actually a very easy process, and it is very customer friendly.
There are a few rules you need to consider though, especially considering how you bought it. If you have bought the product in-person, you have a 7 day window to return it from the purchase date. If you bought the product online, then that window extends to within 30 days of purchase.
The device should be in like new condition and also have less than one hour of talk time or 200MB of data usage on it to be eligible for return.
If you need a refund, then here are some steps that you can follow.
The first type of refund that you can request is the refund of a device. If you have a smartphone that isn’t working, has broken, or isn’t the make or model that you want, then you can send it back for a refund or replacement.
You’ll need to send the device back in one of two ways, either by mail or by coming to the store in person to drop it off. If you are going to be bringing the package back to the store, then you will need to bring the device, its original packaging, any accessories it came with, and the receipt for the purchase.
Everything needs to be in like-new condition or better for it to be considered for a refund.
If you bought the device online, but have discovered that you have the need for a refund, then you will need to send it back via mail to the company address. As with an in-person refund, it should have the original packaging, any accessories, and will need to be in like-new condition for it to be eligible.
You should also make sure to use the return shipping label provided by the company to prevent you from having to pay for shipping on the return trip.
While returning a product is very easy to do and will get you a refund, that doesn’t extend to Metro by T-Mobile services. If you have a prepaid, monthly, or add-on service that you have bought, then those are not eligible for a refund. Instead, you will just need to cancel the payments and make sure that you have enough in your accounts to pay the charge for one more month.
If Metro by T-Mobile changes their rates or prices for a service that you are subscribed to, then you will be notified ten days in advance before the date of the change. If you decide to cancel your subscription during these ten days, you will not have to pay the new rates, but if you do not request a change during those ten days, the changes go into effect and you will have to deal with them.
One of the biggest problems that catch Metro by T-Mobile customers by surprise is the fact that the original packaging and the receipt need to be included with the returned product. Those are typically the first things to be thrown away while you go after your new phone, so it’s important to keep everything the phone came with until you are sure that it will not need a refund.
If you bought the product by mail, then you will need to have the return shipping label included with the package, and you can use it to stop yourself from paying shipping. If you have lost the return shipping label, then you are still eligible to return your purchase, but the shipping bill will need to be footed by you.
If you bring everything requested to the store, Metro will process your return the exact same day, and get you your money right away. If you return the project by mail, then the company will need to make sure your refund request is reasonable and then they will issue the refund.
Typically, the refund will go to the same payment method that you used to purchase the phone. For a checking and savings account, you will need to be the account holder to request the refund, and once it gets approved you will need to wait about three business days to have the refund deposited.
For a credit or debit card, the payment will be refunded back to the original card within three business days. If you do not have the original payment method on hand, then you will not be eligible for a refund. So if you are not able to receive a refund, make sure to check your account or card balance, or reach out to customer service.
Getting a refund can be easy, but only if you make sure to keep all the original packaging and other items that your phone came with. Then you simply need to mail it back or return it to the store and the refund will be processed and your money returned.
Just make sure to always keep the packaging and receipt until you are sure that the phone works, and also remember that service plans and monthly fees are not eligible for a refund. With all that information in mind, you can return your T-mobile products without hassle.
