Not sure whether Suddenlink internet is good? Looking for more information on their plans, services, and whether they live up to their hype?
You aren’t the only one. To help you make an informed decision about your internet plans, we’ve compiled reviews and ratings for Suddenlink from multiple sources.
Suddenlink Communications, known by its parent company of Altice, is a telecommunications company that offers high speed internet, cable television, home phones, and home security products. They have operated since 1992, though at the time they went under the name Classic Communications.
Reviews.org has given them a slightly more favorable 3 out of 5 stars for offering price for life guarantees on the most expensive 2 plans, providing fast internet in rural areas where customers have no other options, and having fast speeds over all. But this is negated by the price increases on the lower tier plans after the first year of service (not something they explain up front very well) and the odd fees which seem to suddenly appear in contracts after customers sign up.
Their American Customer Satisfaction Index rating is very poor, 60 out of 100 for the last few years. There seems to be very little the reps are able (or willing) to do when customers have issues, which one customer noted by stating, “Every rep was polite but did not know how to help me.”
For simple matters, customer service reviews are not great, overall indicative of a lot of talk but little follow through. One customer explained, “We’ve called repair service numerous times. They confirm the problem is on Suddenlink’s end on the outside line but never send a tech out to fix it. We’re going on 2 months now. A couple times they promised to send a tech but it never happened. No repair. No follow up. Just apologies and promises.”
The odd fees and lack of explanations up front about said fees is a repeating issue among customers. The fact that they company uses misleading marketing tactics to tout low prices and the “lifetime guarantee”, but fail to explain that those prices go up for all but the priciest of plans is one example. Another is the equipment and fees for the modem and the installation fee (either premium or standard) along with network enhancement fees, something they don’t explain the purpose of in the contract.
One customer noted, “Suddenlink–Texas…..biggest cheating rip off around. They raised my bill yet, in the email notices sent to me…..as they requested I go paperless……..they did NOT state the raise in costs. for 3 months, there was an increase they did NOT mention so they add late fees and increase my costs. The email CLEARLY STATED the amount I owed as the same as before. Their billing department argues that, the billing attachment to the email stated the increase due……WHY, if the email said it was the same as last month, would I bother to open the “paper bill” attachment??? Since the email stated the same amount, that is what I paid…..they also sent, monthly, texts, stating the amount did not change. YET….billing states it is my problem, not theirs…that is was clearly (in small print on the last page) stated on the paper bill (which, again, at their urging…I did not receive). I am stuck, in my part of town there are no other providers and I need internet to survive financially. Suddenlink is a cheat and a ripoff. Plain logic does not matter to them as long as they get what THEY think they are due.”
As mentioned, Suddenlink offers a range of services, but as far as their internet is concerned, Suddenlink internet offers multiple tiers of internet.
This gives you speeds up to 50 Mbps starting at $34.99/mo.
This plan offers speeds up to 100 Mbps for $54.99/mo.
As the name suggests, this plan has speeds up to 150 Mbps for $74.99/mo.
Similarly, this gives you speeds up to 200 Mbps for $44.99/mo.
Again, this gives you speeds up to 400 Mbps for $54.99/mo.
As the name suggests, their largest plan offers speeds up to 1,000 Mbps for $74.99/mo.
With each of these though, the pricing per month is based on the length of your contract, additional servicing fees, and location. They put only in the fine print that they reserve the right to change these prices at any time, without warning, and that the prices vary based on where you live.
