Despite the initial promise of Google Fiber’s service, the company has suffered a number of setbacks in recent months. With Google’s tendency to roll out new services only to later terminate the services, some Google Fiber customers are nervous about what that means for them. For now, there are a few different ways to get Google Fiber’s attention.

Be Clear That You’re a Google Fiber Customer

First of all, always make it clear that you’re a current customer. If possible, you should sign into the Google account you used to sign up for Google Fiber. From there, you can choose to talk on the phone or chat online with a customer service representative. You can also reach out to Google Fiber’s social media team if traditional options don’t get you the results you want.

Google Fiber has only rolled out in a few cities across the nation, but there’s been a huge amount of media attention surrounding the project. Because of this, there are more people interested in Google Fiber than there are actual Google Fiber customers.

In order for your complaint, request, or question to be heard promptly by Google Fiber’s customer support team, you should take a few specific steps:

  • Make sure you sign into the Google account you used to sign up for Google Fiber.
  • If you can’t get answers from the Google Fiber support page, include your account information in your query to a customer service representative.

Call, Text, Chat

In most cases, Google Fiber’s customer care team wants to verify that customers already checked out the online resources that Google provides. You should first read the frequently asked questions and tutorial pages before reaching out to a customer service representative.

  • Call: You can reach Google Fiber’s customer service phone line at (866) 777-7550. The phone lines are open 24/7. Again, make sure to have your account information to verify you’re a current customer.
  • Fiber Business customers should call (855) 418-8326 for support.
  • Text: In addition to calling, you can text Google Fiber’s customer service team. Text (833) 999-2889 with your customer service inquiry.
  • Fax: Faxing is not a timely method of communication. Still, you can fax your customer service concerns to (512) 558-7577.
  • E-mail: While signed into your Google Fiber account, you can e-mail Google Fiber’s customer service team.
  • Chat: Google Fiber has a customer service chat option. You should sign in for the live chat support.
  • App: The Google Fiber app gives you the option to call or e-mail customer support. The app can be downloaded on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

I am not sure as to why I am having so many issues with @googlefi. It used to be such a friendly and helpful service when it first launched but something has changed. I used to recommend it but after today that will definitely change too.

Google Fiber has always been a big deal on the internet. However, as Google Fiber’s operations have been slowing down, there aren’t as many active social media accounts as there once were. Some of these accounts may be better for trying to reach a customer support representative than others.

  • Facebook: For most companies, going to their Facebook page is a good way to elicit a response. With Google Fiber, their Facebook account seems to be active, especially for marketing purposes, but it doesn’t respond to many public questions. Although direct messaging Google Fiber’s Facebook account may result in a response, it doesn’t seem to be the fastest or most efficient way to get good customer service.
  • Instagram: Although Google Fiber does keep their Instagram account pretty active, it’s not used for customer service.
  • Twitter: Google has two Fiber-specific Twitter accounts. Their official Twitter is primarily used for marketing, but it does seem to respond to customer questions. There’s also a dedicated Google Fiber support Twitter page, which consumers can direct message or post public messages

When That’s Not Enough…

As a customer, you have the right to expect good customer service. However, even if you follow the steps listed and treat the customer support agents with respect, you might not find what you want.

After calling, messaging, and leaving comments and reviews online, you might think you’re out of options. Although there may be a clause in the contract you signed with your cable or internet company preventing you from filing a lawsuit, there are still options that may be available to you.
